Troy Gordon "grew up" in the Tampa Bay area nursery business. A Florida native, he graduated from East Bay High School in 1981. In 1975, Troy went to work at the family's nursery and greenhouse learning the business from the "roots" up. It was a "get dirty, hands on" approach to the growing the family business. His parents taught him the basics about running a plant nursery and in 1990, he purchased the business Alafia Tropical Foilage.

Since then, Troy has expanded the company into landscaping, design and installation. He enjoys implementing his customer's designs and truly marvels at the transformations that occur at each job site. Troy is a member of the Tampa Bay Wholesale Growers Association and the Florida Nurseryman Growers Association. He and his wife of 19 years, Alice, are the proud parents of three beautiful teenagers.
